Referral is normally made by means of a letter of referral from the patient's General Practitioner, or from another consultant.
It is helpful in any consultation to have as much previous information on the patient's previous health as possible. This includes a history of other diseases and lists of current medications. Please also inform the Practice Manager as to whether you have had a recent chest X-ray. If you haven't, then a chest X-ray taken immediately prior to consultation is usually very helpful.
Consultations are carried out on the ground-floor of Emmanuel Kaye House, the Private Out-Patient building of King Edward VIIth Hospital.
There is a full reception service and phlebotomy on site, and full back-up of all nursing services including chaperone facilities at your request. There are toilets on the ground floor and accessible by the disabled.
Radiology, including CT and MRI scanning and full ultrasound service are available in the adjacent building of King Edward VIIth Hospital, and is often available on a same-day-basis.
Dr Johnson is recognised by all health insurers including BUPA, AXA-PPP, Standard Life, Aviva, Simply Health and CIGNA. It is advisable to contact your insurer for prior approval before making an appointment if you intend to claim against your insurance policy.
